Many see equilibrium as a synonym of balance. For example, a tightrope walker can miraculously maintain balance when she crosses a stretched thread in height. Another example of this is towers made of stones, which are placed on top of each other in such a way that the tower is in balance and does not threaten to crash. Balance is also ofter expressed as an insight. Both a photo and an exhibition can be in balance. In this sense balance is a synonym for composition. Yet another form of balance is ‘the inner balance’. This is a very personal understanding, and can have a different meaning for everybody. In this project i tried to show a clear cooperation between the three synonyms of balance: equilibium, composition and inner balance. I have brought these synonyms together with illustrations and photographs.
